Some years we don’t see any roadrunners and some years, they’re everywhere around here. This year, I think we’ve seen more than any other year we’ve been here. Vince had let Speck out and he called me to come see. A young roadrunner had flown down out of a nearby tree and was about 2 feet from Speck, watching him.
For a little while, they were watching each other. You can see just Speck’s head behind the grill. I was afraid to get too close before getting a picture because I didn’t want the bird to fly off.
He saw me but he wasn’t too worried about me so long as I kept my distance. They seem to love munching on grasshoppers so they should be very well fed this year.

I have seen a couple this year around my area but I never have my camera with me or where I can take a picture – I am usually driving. This is the first year in many years that we have seen any roadrunners. I don’t know where they’ve been. Maybe they are making a comeback!

I love roadrunners. They will keep you safe from all the nasty bugs, if there are enough of them! I can’t believe you have those grasshoppers again!

They also eat snakes!
