For anyone wanting a little “shock treatment” to get you to lose weight, we just watched “Obesity – The Post Mortem”. It was pretty hard for me to watch but it definitely made us want to really lose weight. Sometimes seeing something like that goes a long way in increasing the willpower to walk away from the D.r Pepper!
It’s a little over the top from a “gross” standpoint but pretty enlightening.

Thanks. Time to give a bit more attention to the extra 25# that I keep putting off. So I’m with you now on watching more carefully what goes inside.

It might not be for everyone, but I’ve been reading a lot about how people are quitting all grain, legumes, sugar, any overly processed food and losing weight and feeling so much better. Since the hubby retired I’ve learned from experience that eating that way is next to impossible unless both of you adopt the lifestyle. My hubby is one of those skinny minnies who never gains an ounce no matter what he eats and wants potatoes, canned fruit, sweet desserts and baked goods all the time. His biggest complaint is that I very, very rarely make cakes or cookies. Best of luck with the new health conscious lifestyle.

Well a DP once in a while wont hurt for a treat will it ? I do that with my Pepsi once in a while we have it as a treat or root beer floats. It gives encouragement that all is not lost ….

Several years ago I decided I would not drink sodas unless they were clear. So I only drink Sprite but not every day and not very often. I sometimes drink a Coke but not very often. You will be surprised how much weight you can lose by not drinking sodas. There is always tea and a little real sugar (not artificial of any kind) will not hurt you. I don’t even do sugar in my tea. I try not to eat too many sweets. Green tea is good also. But as you probably know, water is the best. Since I quit working I have lost over 40 pounds and now it is beginning to show. I feel better and I hope I look better. Someone even noticed last weekend that I had lost weight!

Judy, I was just thinking the other day that you had not said much about making kombucha lately. I am trying to make some and hopefully in a couple of weeks will get my first finish. Had to start from scratch with a dehydrated scoby and got impatient and put it into another mix at 3 weeks. Pulled it out yesterday and it looks like the pictures so I gave it new tea and sugar and now I have to impatiently wait, and wait and wait! My house is almost too cool in the winter for it to do much so I have been experimenting with ways to keep it warmer in the area where the buch is fermenting
What was the easiest and most flavorful flavor you found? I don’t have fruit right now in NE Indiana-have some dried fruits to try. Would appreciate the info!
