Yesterday while looking for a picture of something garden related, I came across older pictures from the garden . . in the years when Vince was able to till it up and get it ready for planting. This year, he wasn’t able to do anything and what little I was able to do was way late. It was inspiring and a bit sad to see what gardens in the past looked like.
These were beans and I think this photo was taken in March. It was before we had our real fence.
These were the artichokes that accidentally got tilled under. Speaking of accidents, Vince cut the grass in the orchard and accidentally ran over one of the new jujube trees. What am I going to do with him? I suggested we put stakes out there at the new little sprouts and he said “I’ll remember where they are!” Ok!
We had lots of artichokes that year. Hopefully our one remaining artichoke plant will produce a few this year.
Hopefully next year Vince will be healthy and retired and we’ll have our best garden yet but, in the meantime, this year’s little garden isn’t too shabby! I’m getting tomatoes every day. Potatoes and green beans are about to bloom. I’ll plant okra in a couple of weeks. I suppose a small garden is better than no garden at all.
