Here are the blogs participating in the Bears in the Farmhouse Quilt Along:
See the Link Box in this post.
What’s a Quilt-Along and how does it work?
It isn’t a mystery because you will see each quilt before you begin. You can decide if you want to participate or not after seeing the quilt. I will post a picture of the quilt and take signups. If you want to participate, you will email me at QuiltingAlong@gmail.com when I introduce the new quilt. There will be a deadline for sending your email to me. On the assigned dates, I will send out the fabric requirements. You will send me pictures of your fabric choices or post it on your blog and send me an email to your blog post. Each set of instructions will be sent to your email but only if you’ve completed the previous steps by the deadline. Think of this a bit like the First Saturday Blocks at quilt shops.
How hard will these patterns be?
Not hard! If you’ve done my quilts before, you know half square triangles are used often. I may use the Tri-Recs rulers but you will know when you see the quilt if it’s going to require anything special. I do use pieced borders often, several borders often and sometimes pieced sashing.
How much fabric will I have to buy?
These patterns will all be written so as to use as much of the stash as possible. If you have a good stash, you might be able to make all the Quilt-Along quilts without buying anything! That’s my goal.
What if I don’t receive the next step?
When I email the instructions, I will post a note on my blog that they were emailed. If you didn’t receive the instructions in your mailbox, let me know and I will re-send them. You need to subscribe to my blog or make sure you’re watching it often so you don’t miss a notice.
How often will you send out instructions?
The instructions will be sent at a fairly leisurely pace. No one who has a few hours a week to sew should feel rushed. If I get a lot of feedback that we’re moving too slowly or too quickly, I’ll adjust the schedule accordingly.
What if I miss the deadline?
I’m pretty flexible. If you let me know that you’ve had a problem, I can help you out.
If I don’t keep up, am I just left with a bunch of half blocks?
Once the Quilt-Along is over, I will offer the patterns for sale as e-patterns which means I will e-mail you the file as a .pdf, if you choose to purchase the pattern.
What if I’ve just found your blog and you’re in the middle of a Quilt-Along?
You’ve missed out on the Quilt-Along you happened upon during the middle. The pattern will be for sale once the Quilt-Along is completed. There will be more Quilt-Alongs so keep watching the blog.
How many quilts will we do?
One at a time. We’ll do one, then wipe out all the e-mail addresses. For the next one, you’ll sign up all over again if you want to participate.
What if I sign up and then change my mind?
Do nothing! Future e-mails will only be sent to those who have submitted proof that the previous steps were completed.
If you have other questions, email me.
