The Spiral Square panto that I love is by Keryn Emmerson.  She knows how much I love it.  Her twin is Mereth and she has Featherations panto that I also love.  They each have many pantos but those two are just my personal favorites.  But Keryn told me I should really use other pantos besides Spiral square.  Here’s what she wrote me about what would happen if I didn’t use other pantos!

Otherwise you’ll go down in quilt history as the amazingly prolific quilter who only used tone on tones and one panto…”The quilt we’re identifying today is thought to be a piece by Judy L during her ‘middle’  years, characterised by the tone on tone prints.  Of course the use of the Square Spiral pattern is the real clue; she was known to use nothing else for several years…..’
Isn’t that funny?

Blue Saratoga Lights Quilted

Ahh . . Monday morning.  Vince is gone to work.  Chad is gone to work.  Vince was off all week last week.  Chad was home from school but he worked 4 days during the week.  The other days and at night, he was in his room (right next to my sewing area) practicing his duck calls.   I’m happy he’s hanging out at home but dang . . there are no ducks going to come flying through here so I’d just as soon have a few minutes without hearing the duck call.

I thought the plumber would have been here by now to look at the water heater but so far . . haven’t seen him.

Our cars and house insurance all comes due at the same time  . . right after Christmas.  That’s what happens when you move to a different state on January 1.  I’ll take that into consideration next time we move!  We have the nicest insurance lady and I always call and make sure we have earthquake coverage, multi-car discount, Chad’s good student discount, etc.  Have to make sure we have all the discounts we can get.  Yes, everything is right so I paid all that and now we’ll have beans and rice for the next month!  :)   But the good news is we don’t have to deal with paying insurance til after Christmas next year.

So . . I’m home alone.  No duck calls.  No TV.  As much as I wanted to just sit and enjoy the solitude, I fired up the longarm and quilted the blue Saratoga Lights top.

The quilting doesn’t show up so well but I used Keryn Emmerson’s Spiral Square panto.  I love that panto!  I used a light blue thread on top and in the bobbin.

Mostly I don’t worry a lot about the backings matching but I had the perfect backing for this one.

There’s probably enough of that fabric for at least two more backings.  Must’ve been a real good deal!  :)

I’m going to load the Loose Change quilt and I doubt I can quilt on it today but I’ll work on the quilt that’s on the design wall.
