Nice & White

One morning last week I woke up as usual.  It’s always nice to wake up . . as usual! :)   I went out and tended the chickens.  It was so nice that all the snow had melted.  First time in over a week that I wasn’t tromping through snow.  Thank goodness for my Amish boots!  Speck likes to sleep late . . he’s a lot like I used to be!  About 9 a.m., Speck decided to rise and shine and the first thing we do is go outside.  I couldn’t believe it when I looked out.

I couldn’t believe it had happened so quickly!  It was fat, sloppy flakes and I knew the snow wasn’t going to stick but we went from no snow to the ground being covered in no time at all.  I was almost frustrated to see the snow, but then I looked out the front and saw this:

Then I was happy it’s snowing.  I never get enough of looking out at this tree.  I’m so glad that lot is low and water stands so hopefully no one will cut that tree down and build a house there.

By mid-afternoon, the snow was all gone and we had more wet, soggy ground showing.

Snow Removal

Thick, fat, wet, sloppy snow had been falling for a few hours.  We looked out and . . whoa!  The chicken run is sagging under the weight of the snow.

Ahh . . Vince to the rescue!

Swept the snow off the run ..

Swept the snow off the chicken tunnel . .

All is well but .. where are the chickens?  Sitting in the coop, in front of the heater, discussing all those chicken commercials from last night’s Superbowl.  Don’t you think my chickens should be in commercials?  They’re a heckuva lot cuter than all those chickens in the commercials last night!  Yep, that’s what Ruby thinks too!

The Beautiful Snow

It’s so pretty!  Snow pictures could almost be a postcard . . a winder wonderland.

Until . . .

The businesses have their parking lots cleaned and all the parking lot crud gets scraped up with the snow and we have mounds and mounds of icky snow!  And, look how dirty and cruddy all those vehicles are from driving in the snow!

At Wal-Mart ..

At the grocery store  . .

Even my own driveway!  Yes, the blue trash can is in front because the sidewalk to the back has not been shoveled!   Pretend it isn’t there . . I tried to crop it out!

I’m ready to see green grass and flowers . . no piles of snow, no icicles hanging down.  And while we’re talking about snow, what time does the snow plow driver get up?  I’m not complaining that he’s coming by my house .. I just wish he didn’t wake up quite so early!  I know . . he’s kinda like Santa.  He has a lot of territory to cover and I’m real happy that he’s out there doing his job.
