Here we go . . a new project that will last through 2014. In addition to the monthly instructions, each week, on Monday, beginning on January 6, there will be a question posed. I will explain more about that later.
All blocks for this project should be 12″ finished or 12-1/2″ unfinished.
January’s Instructions:
Step 1:
Fabrics 1 and 3: Cut 1 – 2-1/2″ strip from each. Sew those strips together. Make 1 strip set. Cut into 8 – 2-1/2″ segments.
Fabric 1 – Cut 1 – 2-1/2″ strip. Cut it into 8 – 2-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ rectangles. Sew those rectangles to the tops of the above pieces. Make 4 of each as shown below.
Step 2:
Fabrics 1 and 6: From each, cut 2 – 5-1/4″ squares. Cut them on the diagonal twice to yield 8 triangles from each fabric.
Fabric 4: Cut 4 – 4-7/8″ squares. Cut them on the diagonal once to yield 8 triangles.
Assemble the triangles into partial quarter square triangles as shown below. Make 8.
Step 3:
Sew the pieces from Steps 1 and 2 together to make the following units. Press the seam allowances towards the pieces from Step 1. Make 4.
Step 4:
Fabric 2: Cut 2 – 4-1/2″ squares. Sew pieces from Step 2 to two opposite sides as shown. Press the seam allowances towards the Fabric 2 square.
Step 5:
Assemble the block as shown. Make 2.

I know I shouldn’t be confused. I didn’t partake in any bubbly last night. I see the instructions say January, and the block says February. I’m just checking that I havent missed something. Happy New Year. Thank you for all the inspiration you share with us.

Glad it’s instructions for the month! No way I’ll be sewing this weekend. Haven’t even opened the box from Vicky yet! Knew it would be too much temptation to fondle fabrics and not pack!!!!!

I was wondering the same thing as Kay. Thanks Judy!
Beryl says
I meant to say Kat – sorry..

I just found your blog. Is this a mystery quilt that you are doing for 2014? Is there a list of fabric requirements? Can you tell me how big the quilt will be when finished?

I loved last year’s project and I am looking forward to this one. But I haven’t bought my fabric yet!! I may not happen until next week. We are expecting a bit of a snowstorm. I am intrigued about the question that will be coming up.

Ooo. Very pretty. I may have to start this.

Now to see how my fabric choices pan out,

i know i have missed something on this. is there a yardage chart that i can’t seem to find?

The intro page has it all: https://patchworktimes.com/2013/11/26/tell-it-to-the-stars/
Dot says
The introduction was posted in November, probably on Nov. 30, and the fabric info was posted in early December – Dec. 4? (Those are the dates I downloaded the Print Friendly PDFs.)

I just finished my first two blocks. I’m using the Color Splash Kit as that is the colors that my daughter liked. Doubt that I’ll be able to always finish on the first, but at least it’s a good start. I can tell already that it is going to make a fantastic looking quilt.

I was putting together my blocks for my Fit For a Hero quilt, so used the Tell It To The Stars blocks as my leader-ender.
By the time the rows were together the first star was done, and by the time the rows were sewn together the second star was also finished. I am using the Forest Canopy palette, which is a bit out of my comfort zone, but that is a good thing.

Whipped up those blocks today and Wow! Do I love them! That pattern looks so great. I’m so anxious to see the next ones.

Very pretty stars, and so glad that you offer email notices, my mind doesn’t always work to remember.
Thanks

So finally I won the fight with this block. Never had so much trouble like this time, but it is done. Is there a spec site, where all the finished blocks got shared? Would love to post mine.
Thanks for all your work, Judy
