When it’s this cold, I can live on soup. Yesterday I made a pot of Split Pea Soup in the Instant Pot. I pretty much totally used the Pressure Cooking Today recipe except I had a bit of Louisiana sausage that I removed from the casing and browned, and I used a good bit of leftover Christmas ham.
For dinner last night, we had the soup, cheese in our melter and some toasted bread. Not much better on a cold, icy day! Split pea soup is so easy and quick to make in the pressure cooker.
Provolone cheese in the melter. I love that thing and provolone is one of my favorites.
There are three cans of clams in the pantry. I may make clam chowder for tomorrow. Vince will go back to work but I think he’d love clam chowder for lunch.

I have a pot of 15 bean soup bubbling in the crockpot with a hambone leftover from Christmas. We picked up a loaf of rye bread to go with it…smells delicious! Happy New Year to you Judy, I can’t wait to read what adventures 2018 brings your way!

I have chili going on the stove for dinner tonight…I agree about the soup weather. We still have some snow and ice sticking around in the shade today…but I was texting my dad who lives in Ohio and the wind chill there is -7 with actual temperature having risen to 9F…I’m grateful to just be in Texas cold!

Could you share your split pea soup, it’s my hubbies favourite soup and it would be great to make in my new instapot.

I LOVE certain soups..the zuppa toscana from Olive Garden which I have a fantastic recipe for and Wendy’s chili which I have a copy cat recipe for. I tried a recipe for french onion (love it if it’s good..not all french onion is really good) and it turned out yucky! So disappointing after slicing 6 huge onions with all the tears. It went in the disposer and then I tried a creamy cauliflower and that also went down the disposer. UGH!!

It was a soup day here too. My Instant Pot was called to the rescue and I made some vegetable beef soup and sweet corn bread. I love that pot. Thanks for all the good ideas for using it.

I’ve never seen a melter before. I made bean soup from scratch, but just used the crock pot and leftover ham, and some Thrive freeze dried stuff and quinoa. It’s for tomorrow after Star Wars!
