A reader wrote me about the man I mentioned on the blog this morning. His name is Richard Proenneke and the show is Alone in the Wilderness. Here’s a Wikipedia story about Mr. Proenneke. Very interesting!
My husband just got the book and videos for Christmas! I am looking forward to watching.

So then someone published his journals? Or they just wrote a book about him? I love reading people’s personal journals, pioneer journals, things like that. Did they ever think we’d be so interested? Probably not. I know the pioneers moving west with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints mostly kept journals because the Lord said to, but I’m so grateful they did! They are heartbreaking sometimes, but also comforting to know that people went through things I can’t imagine, survived them, lived happy lives (or sometimes not happy) and left a record of all of it behind. I found one ancestor who contributed to a quilt in Salt Lake City and I saw the block she did for it. It’s amazing! And here I thought I didn’t have it in my blood. =)
