You all know that I’ve been gone but you probably didn’t know Vince was with me. He feels like I say too much on the blog and he didn’t want ame saying we’re both gone so I didn’t say he was with me. I may or may not share too much here. Believe it or not, there are a few things I don’t share. And when I don’t tell the whole story, I feel like I’m being dishonest but I do understand Vince not wanting me to say we were both gone.
We left on Friday, April 26. We drove to Louisiana and stayed two nights at my uncle’s lakehouse.
On Saturday, my uncle met us, spent the night and then on Sunday, we left to go to MO. His birthday was in early April and I was at Chad’s when I called him for his birthday. I was telling him that I was coming back or Addie’s program in a couple of weeks and he said he would LOVE to be able to go. He’s 87 and couldn’t/wouldn’t drive that far alone so I told him we would go to Louisiana and pick him up. He was delighted . . so we did.
We got to MO on Sunday, April 30. Addie wanted us to come to her gymnastics class on Monday and we did. The play was scheduled for Tuesday, April 31, and we were all so excited about that . . until it was rescheduled due to weather. We all had a good visit. Addie dearly loves my uncle and she was so happy he got to come to her house. We were all glad we went but sorry we didn’t get to see the play. I will be going back . . alone . . next week for the play. Both Vince and my uncle were emphatic . . they are NOT going that far again any time soon. It was about 11 hours from my uncle’s place at the lake in north Louisiana to Chad’s house. It was a very long trip.
Because we had Rita, and because Rita is determined to kill their big dog, Speck, Vince and I decided to stay in a hotel with Rita and my uncle would stay at Chad’s house. Addie wanted to stay with me at the hotel. She and Vince were able to swim/play in the pool. It was pretty easy . . she and Vince would go have the hotel breakfast each morning while I finished getting dressed, then I’d run by Chad’s and pick up my uncle so he could go with me to drop Addie off at school. One day my uncle and I ate lunch with Addie at school.
She is such a fun girl!
So, we left MO on Wednesday, April 1, drove back to my uncle’s lake house. He spent one night there and then he went home. Vince and I stayed til today.
I don’t even know how many hours or miles we were in the car but I know one thing . . it is good to be home.
It rained a lot while we were gone. The rain gauge reset on May 1 and in the first four days of May, we’ve had 1.66″ of rain. The grass was way high, because it rained almost every day the last week in April. Vince had cut the grass before we left, but he hopped on the mower as soon as we had the car unloaded and the bugs washed off the front.
The wild flowers shown above are in the field and he isn’t cutting those. He’s just cutting the grass and orchard area where we, Rita and the chickens walk. Snakes are out and letting the weeds get too tall isn’t safe.
Cat is so mad at us for leaving her. We had two different friends who helped with the chickens and cats while we were away so they were all cared for and everyone was happy to see us except Cat. She has made probably 30 circles around the house . . making sure we see her and making sure we know she is ignoring us. She will not even look at us. That is one crazy cat!
Rita climbed up in her big comfy bed when we got home and has hardly moved.
We ate crawfish three times, and ate at our favorite Mexican restaurant three times so today, the diet began anew. Neither of uos want to get on the scales for a few days . . or maybe a week.
Even though we all enjoyed every minute of our trip, it is really, really good to be home!

It’s true what Dorothy said: “There’s no place like home.”

Glad you are home safe and sound. Now for the next trip. Maybe Addie will come home with you for a couple of weeks this time. Enjoy the weather because it is going to get hot enough soon. Glad you took your Uncle it is good for them to get out and stay involved in families lives even when they get that old.
