The Comfort Fade Cardi is made with Madelinetosh’s Farm Twist, a newer DK weight yarn. I had not a single skein of it in my stash before starting this project.
In this tub is what I ordered . . for this one project, and didn’t use! I could throw in a couple more colors and probably have enough to make a dozen (well, almost) more Comfort Fade Cardis. I will have to break into a second skein of a couple of the colors to finish the sleeves and front bands/collar but so far, I’ve used 5 skeins of yarn. I ordered 36 skeins . . not all at once but three here, three there, three more.
Eat, Sleep, Knit picked a good one for this project. I’m betting I’m not the only one who had to make multiple orders to come up with a fade they were happy with. The ESK folks are happy to pull yarns and take photos for us or they will put together a fade if you give them a little guidance.
I wanted to do it all by myself and I paid the price . . literally. I’m happy to have all the extra Farm Twist. I love knitting with it and I think it will hold up great in a sweater. I’ll use it for something . . some day. Doesn’t go so well with Vince’s blog post yesterday though, does it?
