Our weather radio isn’t working. I’m not sure if it’s unplugged or the batteries are dead. We’ve talked about it several times . . like 5 or 6 times this spring when the weather has gotten bad, but we haven’t bothered to look at it to see why it isn’t working.
Last night, it was about 11:30 p.m. I was knitting, Vince was playing his game on the computer. We knew we had bad weather coming. We have a 6 car carport. My car kinda lands in the middle of a 2 car spot. The center 2 car spot has the RTV and then lots of “stuff” . . the table with the smoker, the table with the pressure canner that I use for vacuum sealing jars . . lots of stuff! The third 2 car spot has Vince’s car, lawn mowers, tillers, more “stuff”. But when the weather is going to get bad, we move my car over so it’s taking up one spot, put the RTV next to my car, and then pull the pickup into the second 2 car spot. The pickup is ancient but it’s what we use to go to the dump every couple of weeks since we don’t have trash service out here. Hail could break the windshield and since we have a spot, we pull it in when the weather is bad. So . . we knew the weather might be bad so all the vehicles were under the carport.
Last night, it was about 11:30 p.m. I was knitting, Vince was playing his game on the computer. My phone is on the charger in the dining room. Vince’s phone is on the charger by the TV. We’re signed up for some kind of weather alert when threatening weather is approaching. All of a sudden, all both phones started going off . . ringing and text alerts. Once I heard my phone ring at 11:30, I knew his was going to ring any second.
Vince: What the heck is all that?
Me: It’s a weather alarm.
Vince: Oh. (I kept knitting. He kept playing his game.)
Me: It could be a tornado. Maybe we should get up and see what they’re saying.
Vince: It’s not a tornado!
Neither of us bothered to get up and check the alarm. The weather started getting worse after about 20 minutes so I got up and listened to the message.
We did have thunder and maybe a little hail but it wasn’t scary.
