After Vince’s van/RV discussion, I’ve been paying more attention to whether or not he’s listening to me.
Yesterday I read an article about the Mercy Hospital system laying off 1% of their work force. They have 45,000 people.
Me: Mercy is having a layoff. What’s 1% of 45,000?
Vince: I don’t know. (He’s an engineer . . he knows what’s 1% is!)
Me: I think it’s 4,500.
Me: NO! You are not even listening to me. You know 1% of 45,000 is not 4,500.
Me: You’re just saying yes to everything I say.
Vince: Because I know that’s the answer you want to hear!
Me: Can I buy yarn?
I guess there are trigger words and yarn seems to trigger quite a few negative feelings for him. So, I’ll have to study this a little more and see if there’s a way I can get him to say yes to me getting more yarn without using the word yarn! 🙂
