Night before last I went out with Rita some time after midnight. I decided to get my black light and go back out. Scorpions were everywhere! Some were way above my head so I got a broom to knock them down. Some were out crawling around in the grass. I killed 14 scorpions. Last night I went out and only killed 5. But, I think they got their revenge.
I went to bed and hadn’t been asleep long when I woke up with my middle finger on the right hand itching like crazy. It was the kind of itch that you just can’t relieve . . the same itch I had in my hands and feet when I would end up in the ER with the alpha-gal allergy, which seems to have almost gone away. Some people do get over it and some people’s allergy gets worse with time. I was lucky! So long as I don’t eat ground beef more than once a week, I think I’m good.
Anyway, I got out of bed, put some anti-itch cream on my finger, got back in bed and it was still itching like crazy so I got a jelly jar of ice water and tried to fall back asleep with my finger in the ice water. I knew at some point we were going to end up with ice water spilled in the bed so after about 40 minutes of scratching my finger, with no relief, I took a Benadryl. I figured even if it didn’t stop the itching, it would knock me out and I could sleep.
It’s hard to get a decent picture because my left hand doesn’t cooperate. You can see how swollen the knuckle is.
And there’s a blister. Something big/stung me last night. My guess is it was a spider. I’ll watch it and see if I need to go to the doctor. When I looked at it this morning and saw the blister and swelling, the first thing I thought was “Thank goodness I have better insurance!”
The stiff, swollen joint is making it pretty hard to knit today but at least it didn’t hurt when I did a bit of online yarn shopping! 🙂

I’m thinking you guys should make tracks for northern Arkansas as fast as you can! In all the years I lived in AR I NEVER saw a scorpion!!
dezertsuz says
Doesn’t look comfortable, that’s certain. If it were scorpion, though, I think it would be farther up the hand swelling, too. You’re probably right about the spider.
