Pie Iron Recipes

A Knitting Realization

I’m so excited! A reader just commented that they had used the pie irons when they were camping but they called them “Tonka Toasters” so I googled that and there are so many recipes out there.

Check out 23 Amazingly Easy and Delicious Pie Iron Recipes. Just look at the first recipe! Tomato, Basil & Mozzarella Grilled Cheese Sandwich. I want that right now.

And this site – Pie Iron.

It’s almost 10 p.m., I doubt there’s any bread in this house, and I’m on a low carb diet. Thank goodness there’s no bread and it’s too late to make bread . . wait . . I don’t even have my pie iron but I’m betting I could just do it in a black iron skillet on the stove. OK . . yes, thank goodness there’s no bread because I would so eat that right now.

Poor Vince . . now I’ll take my tablet to bed and read all these recipes to him.

Just remember – when you buy your pie iron, don’t get an aluminum one!! ONLY get cast iron! We went the cheaper way early on in our camping with the kids and the buttered bread always stuck to the iron, no matter how much butter you used, and the bread would usually burn before the inside ingredients were cooked. With cast iron, it turns out much better – looks and taste-wise. Now when our kids want to go camping, they always come pick up the cast iron pie irons we have. CAST IRON is the only way to go!!

You better not. That would be tempting him and he has done so well with the diet. You too!!

Fortunately, thinking about food is calorie and carb free!

I think 3 cast iron pie cookers would make great Christmas gifts for Chad’s family.
